Stories from the field
Finding Freedom B.C. Interview
RE:ACT- Recovery Education For Addiction and Complex Trauma. To provide care and education to help broken people become whole in Christ. Ninety-seven percent of people in addiction experienced childhood trauma in their home, school or church. This is not simply physical or sexual trauma; it also includes any dynamics that cause the child not to feel safe or unconditionally loved. RE:ACT helps people understand how that trauma affected them-not just in becoming an addict, but in all aspects of their lives. Zero percent of people in recovery stay clean and sober if they do not develop healthy relationships and a healthy support network. RE:ACT helps people do that. Healing from addiction and trauma will take up to 2 years for most people, and that is what we hope to offer with a long term program, where people will receive teaching, counseling, learning life skills, job skills, relationship skills, building a healthy network, and transitioning gradually into life.
To The Ends of the Earth Society Interview
Remi and Tjandra, formerly involved with Mission Aviation Fellowship, operate as TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH Society. They aim to help some of the most desperately poor and deprived people on remote, hard-to-reach islands in Indonesia, and in other countries around the world. Some of the mission projects and activities include supporting an orphanage & Bible Schools; supporting teams of pastors, teachers, counsellors and medical staff; providing medicines, books and teaching materials; and providing fresh, clean water where none has been available. To The Ends of the Earth Society, also supports similar projects through other like-minded organizations and projects and sends out missionaries to help with above mentioned projects.
Planting Life Haiti Interview
Planting Life Haiti is a Christ-centered foundation whose goals are to collaborate with Haitian farmers to improve farming practices in Haiti. We provide resources, training, education, and support for Haitian farming communities, working towards a sustainable future in Haiti. We focus on using drip irrigation systems, which are water and labour efficient. In our acts and words, we strive to honour Jesus and to make him known to others. Our desire is to "plant life", both spiritual and agricultural. Through prayer, teaching, working, and serving, the Planting Life Haiti Foundation desires to see Haitian farming communities thrive and flourish with hope for new life.
ICMS was our first choice for administrative CRA supervision and counsel. The planning for projects and support they provide is second to none.
Additionally, the prayer support they have provided for the past five years, wow. We heartily recommend the ministry team at ICMS!
After having served with another mission for 30 years, we switched to ICMS. We really like their "back to basics" mentality: use donations for ministry with as few as possible overhead expenses. Serving for ICMS has opened additional ministry opportunities as we have more funds left over after ICMS's very small administration free.
Another thing we really like about ICMS is that they don't burden their agents with many burdensome policies. They are always ready to help with whatever questions we have. There is great collaboration in the decision making process with the agents, which enables us to serve the objectives of ICMS with great enthusiasm and effort. Yet the controls are not too onerous. It’s a great fit!
It has been a blessing to work under the umbrella of ICMS. They provide administrative leadership, guidance, support, and prayer. They are quick to answer any questions and provide assistance as needed. As a part of the ICMS family, we are surrounded by like-minded organizations that serve Jesus together all around the world. We highly recommend joining with ICMS to grow your ministry and build a community of support.
